  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to vessel registration

  3         requirements; amending s. 328.72, F.S.;

  4         exempting vessels owned by Safe Harbor Haven,

  5         Inc., from certain vessel registration fees;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (14) of section 328.72, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         328.72  Classification; registration; fees and charges;

13  surcharge; disposition of fees; fines; marine turtle

14  stickers.--

15         (14)  EXEMPTIONS.--Vessels owned and operated by Sea

16  Explorer or Sea Scout units of the Boy Scouts of America, the

17  Girl Scouts of America, the Florida Association of Christian

18  Child Caring Agencies, Inc., Safe Harbor Haven, Inc., or the

19  Associated Marine Institutes, Inc., and its affiliates, or

20  which are antique vessels as defined in paragraph (2)(a) are

21  exempt from the provisions of subsection (1).  Such vessels

22  shall be issued certificates of registration and numbers upon

23  application and payment of the service fee provided in

24  subsection (7).

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
