  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; providing

  3         that the governing body of certain inland

  4         counties may apply to the Office of Tourism,

  5         Trade, and Economic Development to amend the

  6         boundaries of a specific area of an enterprise

  7         zone; providing for severability; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the

13  contrary, the governing body of an inland county with a

14  state-designated enterprise zone and a population greater than

15  500,000 may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

16  Economic Development to amend the boundaries of one

17  noncontiguous area of an enterprise zone. The office shall

18  approve the application if the amended area does not exceed 5

19  square miles and is consistent with the categories, criteria,

20  and limitations imposed by section 290.0055, Florida Statutes,

21  upon the establishment of such enterprise zone; The

22  application for the amendment to the enterprise zone boundary

23  must be received by December 31, 2004.

24         Section 2.  If any provision of this act or its

25  application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the

26  invalidity does not affect other provisions or applications of

27  the act which can be given effect without the invalid

28  provision or application, and to this end the provisions of

29  this act are severable.

30         Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
