  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution commending the Southwest Florida

  3         All Stars Cheerleading organization and the

  4         2003 national awards won by its 2003 "Lady

  5         Eagles," its 2003 "Tweety Birds," and its 2004

  6         "Lady Eagles."

  7  

  8         WHEREAS, in 2003, the Southwest Florida All Stars Small

  9  Seniors squad, the "Lady Eagles," and its Youth Novice squad,

10  the "Tweety Birds," each won the National Championship Trophy

11  and Banner in their respective Divisions of the 2003 National

12  Cheerleaders Association American Classics Competition, and

13         WHEREAS, the 2003 Classics competition took place in

14  nine different venues throughout the year, including Buena

15  Vista, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Orlando, Florida;

16  Chicago, Illinois; and Daytona Beach, Florida, and involved

17  hundreds of cheerleading squads and more than 20,000

18  cheerleaders from virtually every state in the country, and

19         WHEREAS, in the 2003 Daytona Beach Classics

20  competition, the "Lady Eagles" achieved a score of 9.32 out of

21  a possible 10, and the "Tweety Birds" achieved a score of 7.39

22  out of a possible 10, to win the first place trophies in their

23  respective divisions, and

24         WHEREAS, the 2003 "Lady Eagles" team, made up of

25  student athletes in grades 7-12, consisted of Alex Hughes,

26  Bree Beitelschies, Carley Meola, Rachael Meola, Alexa Smith,

27  Melissa Smalluck, Heather Buzenius, Sydney Locke, Kayla Judd,

28  Megan Duby, Allison Scriviner, Tatjana Mayer, Nichole Seidl,

29  Heather Klein, Charrisse Norton, Mimi Agron, Amy Kinsy, C.J.

30  Woods, Brittany Barthel, and Jazmine Reidy, and

31

 1         WHEREAS, the 2003 "Tweety Birds" team, made up of

 2  student athletes in grades K-4, consisted of Katie Jones,

 3  Alexus Medinus, Chelsea Joiner, Samantha Joiner, Taylor Waltz,

 4  Allison Gallagher, Chloe Rager, Megan Aston, Shannon Wilson,

 5  Morgan Meola, Kayla Benton, Frankie Wilson, Amber Alvarez,

 6  Courtney Paxson, Morgan Deprofio, Lizzy Ortiz, Amanda Pierson,

 7  Abbie Griffith, Lindsey Richardson, Hannah Johnson, Kendall

 8  Dehon, and Brooke Barthel, and

 9         WHEREAS, on Valentine's weekend, February 13-15, 2004,

10  the "Lady Eagles" team, taking first place among the final 17

11  teams with a 9.06 score out of a possible 10, won the Small

12  Senior Open Intermediate Division at the Chick-Fil-A National

13  Cheerleaders American All Star National Championship in

14  Dallas, Texas, an event that is considered the Super Bowl of

15  cheerleading competition, involving 325 cheerleading squads,

16  8,726 cheerleaders, and more than 21,000 spectators, and

17         WHEREAS, the 2004 "Lady Eagles" team, includes some of

18  the members of the 2003 team and some newcomers, consisting of

19  Alex Hughes, Bree Beitelschies, Carley Meola, Rachael Meola,

20  Alexa Smith, Afton Pitts, Melissa Smalluck, Alyssa Melita,

21  Alison Leonard, Heather Buzenius, Sydney Locke, Kayla Judd,

22  Megan Duby, Allison Scriviner, Rita Irving, Alex Rosenblum,

23  Megan Mowry, Tatjana Mayer, L.A. Clark, Nichole Seidl,

24  Christina Ierardi, and Heather Klein, and

25         WHEREAS, the student athletes who make up the "Lady

26  Eagles" and the "Tweety Birds" are well-rounded youths from

27  Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties, are actively involved in

28  cheerleading and other sports in their schools, maintain an

29  overall grade point average of 4.00 and are regularly involved

30  in charitable community activities, including donating toys to

 1  the Children's Hospital and to the Abuse Counseling and

 2  Treatment Shelter, and

 3         WHEREAS, the Southwest All Stars Cheerleading

 4  organization, owned and operated by Head Coach Tanya Glatz,

 5  and supported by Assistant Coaches Tina Sorazano and Mel

 6  Aston, provides the training and direction needed to prepare

 7  its young student athletes to achieve competitive excellence

 8  while maintaining high standards of performance in every

 9  aspect of their lives, NOW, THEREFORE,

10  

11  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

12  

13         That the coaches and members of the Southwest All Stars

14  Cheerleading organization are commended, especially the 2003

15  and 2004 "Lady Eagles" and the 2003 "Tweety Birds," for

16  winning National Cheerleaders Association of America National

17  Championships in 2003 and 2004, bringing honor and pride to

18  the people who reside in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties

19  and throughout the State of Florida.
