2 A resolution commending Florida Baptist
3 Children's Home for its support of children of
4 this state for the past 100 years.

6 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home is a
7 faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides safe,
8 stable, Christian homes for boys and girls who have been
9 neglected, misdirected, abandoned, abused, or caught up in
10 family turmoil, and
11 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home ensures that
12 children in its care receive medical care, nourishing food,
13 proper clothing, and education, including counseling, love,
14 attention, and a positive lifestyle, and
15 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home seeks to
16 provide for children in its care a childhood that is as normal
17 as possible by giving them hope, and providing for their
18 physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, and
19 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home selects both
20 boys and girls to live at its facilities, based upon the
21 child's need and the Home's ability to help them, and
22 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home employs
23 Christian house parents and social workers who do not regard
24 the children as clients or case loads but instead, truly care
25 for and about the children, loving and nurturing them, and
26 laughing and crying with them, and
27 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home takes a
28 proactive approach in healing broken lives by encouraging the
29 social workers to interact with each child and his or her
30 family, house parents, or foster parents, to ensure that
31 progress is being made in each unique situation, and

1 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home has also
2 committed its support for the Florida Baptist Convention's
3 emphasis on the Sanctity of Human Life, providing a specialist
4 to work with pastors, pregnancy care centers, and pregnant,
5 unwed, teen-age girls to help prevent abortions, and
6 WHEREAS, Florida Baptist Children's Home operates
7 campuses in many cities in Florida, including Miami, Fort
8 Myers, Lakeland, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and Pensacola,
9 serving school-age boys and girls in family-style residences,
10 NOW, THEREFORE,

12 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
13
14 That the Florida Baptist Children's Home is commended
15 for its outstanding support of and contributions to the lives
16 of Florida's children, on this its 100th anniversary.
