  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to civil traffic infractions;

  3         creating s. 318.1216, F.S.; creating the

  4         "Trauma Center Preparedness Act"; providing for

  5         an additional fee to be collected with each

  6         civil traffic penalty upon approval by the

  7         board of county commissioners; providing for

  8         administration of the moneys collected;

  9         requiring that moneys collected be used to fund

10         unreimbursed costs of state-approved trauma

11         centers; providing an effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14  

15         Section 1.  Section 318.1216, Florida Statutes, is

16  created to read:

17         318.1216  Trauma center preparedness.--

18         (1)  This section may be known by the popular name the

19  "Trauma Center Preparedness Act."

20         (2)  Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 318.121, a

21  board of county commissioners may require, by ordinance, that

22  the clerk of the court collect with each civil traffic penalty

23  an additional amount of up to $7, which shall be used to fund

24  state-approved trauma centers for unreimbursed costs. The

25  ordinance shall provide for the board of county commissioners

26  to administer the funds. The funds must be used for the

27  unreimbursed costs incurred by state-approved trauma centers,

28  as defined in s. 395.4001, for providing trauma services.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

30  law.
