  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing March 25, 2004, as

  3         "Jacksonville Day" in Tallahassee.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Metropolitan Area now has a

  6  population of over 1 million, and

  7         WHEREAS, Jacksonville is the largest city in land area

  8  within the State of Florida, and

  9         WHEREAS, Jacksonville has had 35 years of success with

10  its consolidated City and County Government, and

11         WHEREAS, Jacksonville has two major United States Naval

12  Bases and a United States Marine facility, and

13         WHEREAS, Jacksonville is the home of the NFL

14  Jacksonville Jaguars, and

15         WHEREAS, Super Bowl XXXIX will be held in Jacksonville,

16  in January 2005, and

17         WHEREAS, Florida's First Coast is the home of the PGA

18  Tour and the Association of Tennis Professionals, and

19         WHEREAS, Jacksonville has outstanding natural

20  resources, including the Timucuan National Preserve, the St.

21  Johns River, and 90 miles of coastline, and

22         WHEREAS, the Jacksonville's port has the nation's

23  largest automobile import facility, NOW, THEREFORE,

25  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

26  

27         That March 25, 2004, be recognized as "Jacksonville

28  Day" in Tallahassee.
