2 A resolution commending the Indian River
3 Community College Men's and Women's Swimming
4 and Diving Teams and recognizing March 2004 as
5 Indian River Community College Swimming and
6 Diving Month.

8 WHEREAS, Indian River Community College celebrated its
9 30th anniversary of swimming and diving competition by hosting
10 the National Junior College Athletic Association Swimming and
11 Diving Championships March 3-6, 2004, on its main campus in
12 Ft. Pierce, Florida, and
13 WHEREAS, the Indian River Community College Men's and
14 Women's Swimming and Diving Teams have gained international
15 recognition for their impressive record of consecutive
16 National Championships, and
17 WHEREAS, Indian River Community College has established
18 a historic landmark by continuing its incredible winning
19 streak with 30 consecutive National Junior College Athletic
20 Association titles for the men and 27 for the women, and
21 WHEREAS, the winning records achieved by the Indian
22 River Community College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving
23 Teams constitute the longest series of consecutive national
24 championship titles won in any sport by any college team in
25 the United States, NOW, THEREFORE,

27 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

29 That the coaches and student athletes at Indian River
30 Community College are commended for winning consecutive
31 National Championships.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Florida Senate
2 recognizes March 2004 as "Indian River Community College
3 Swimming and Diving Month" in the State of Florida.
