14 On page 77, between lines 24 and 25,

16 insert:
17 Section 53. (1) Each district school board and county
18 supervisor of elections shall cooperate to provide voter
19 education to high-school students who are in grade 12. The
20 voter education shall be in the form of a presentation and is
21 mandatory for public high schools and voluntary for nonpublic
22 high schools. Each supervisor of elections shall conduct the
23 presentation for the public high schools and, upon request,
24 the nonpublic high schools.
25 (2) The voter education must include information
26 concerning:
27 (a) How to register to vote and preregister.
28 (b) The operation of voting machines.
29 (c) How, when, and where to vote.
30 (d) The importance of voting.
31 (3) The voter education program must provide students

1 with the opportunity, sufficient information, and sufficient
2 time to complete and hand in to the supervisor of elections
3 applications for voter registration.
4 (4) The voter education program shall be conducted
5 during school hours each term of the school year in order to
6 reach a maximum number of students in the most effective and
7 efficient manner.
8 (5) A student may not be excluded from the voter
9 education program due to an irregular class schedule, and
10 students enrolled in a magnet program must be provided voter
11 education.

20 insert:

22 supervisors of elections jointly to provide a

24 seniors; providing guidelines for the content
25 of the educational program; requiring that the
26 program of voter education be conducted during
27 school hours;
