  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public safety; providing for

  3         an annual salary adjustment for certified law

  4         enforcement officers; providing an effective

  5         date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8  

  9         Section 1.  Each certified law enforcement officer who

10  has a performance rating of satisfactory or better, or the

11  equivalent, and who is represented by the law enforcement

12  bargaining unit shall receive an annual salary increase equal

13  to the greater of one step (on the basis of the 1996 step pay

14  plan) or 2.1 percent, paid pursuant to the employee's

15  collective bargaining agreement.

16         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
