1 Senate Resolution No. ____
2 A resolution recognizing the many contributions
3 made by The Walt Disney Company to the economic
4 and cultural health of the State of Florida.

6 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has created a world
7 class resort in Florida known as Walt Disney World Resort,
8 which has four theme parks, two water parks, more than twenty
9 hotels, four vacation club properties, five championship golf
10 courses, the Wide World of Sports Complex, and Downtown
11 Disney, and
12 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company employs 51,000
13 Floridians, making Orlando's Walt Disney World Resort one of
14 the largest single-site employers in the United States, and
15 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company continued to make
16 capital investments in Walt Disney World Resort, even after a
17 decline in the tourism economy following the terrorists
18 attacks inflicted against this country, and
19 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has helped to
20 transform Port Canaveral into the second largest cruise port
21 in the world, and
22 WHEREAS, on an annual basis The Walt Disney Company
23 pays over $400 million in state and local taxes in Florida,
24 and
25 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has contributed cash
26 and in-kind support worth more than $87 million in support of
27 community services to the central Florida community over the
28 past 5 years, and
29 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has been an enormous
30 asset to the State of Florida, not just in economic terms, but

1 in cultural terms, providing wholesome family vacations to
2 Floridians as well as tourists from throughout the world, and
3 WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has been an
4 unparalleled friend and corporate partner to the State of
5 Florida, NOW, THEREFORE,

7 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
8
9 That The Walt Disney Company is commended for its
10 outstanding leadership and lasting commitment to the State of
11 Florida, and all Floridians look forward to the future
12 continuation of this long and prosperous partnership.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
14 with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Michael
15 Eisner, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, as
16 a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
