1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to the City of Weston, Broward
3 County; extending and enlarging the corporate
4 limits of the City of Weston to include
5 specified unincorporated lands within said
6 corporate limits; providing for transfer of
7 public roads and rights-of-way; providing an
8 effective date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
11
12 Section 1. The present corporate limits of the City of
13 Weston, Broward County, are hereby extended and enlarged so as
14 to include, in addition to the territory presently within its
15 corporate limits, the area particularly described as follows:
16
17 Portions of Sections 33, 34, 35 and 36,
18 Township 49 South, Range 39 East together with
19 a portion of Section 31, Township 49 South,
20 Range 40 East, together with portions of
21 Sections 5 and 6, Township 50 South, Range 40
22 East all in Broward County, Florida, being more
23 particularly described as follows:

25 BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of said
26 Section 34, Township 49 South range 39 East;

28 THENCE Easterly on the North line of said
29 Section 34 to the intersection with a line
30 60.00 feet Northeasterly of and parallel with
31 the South right-of-way line of the North New

1 River Canal as shown on State of Florida
2 Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Map
3 for State Road 93 (Interstate 75), Section

5 South right-of-way line also being labeled
6 "Baseline of Survey State Road 84" on said map;

8 THENCE Southeasterly on said parallel line to
9 the intersection with the Southwesterly
10 projection of the South edge of the L-35A
11 Levee;

13 THENCE Northeasterly on said projection to the
14 intersection with the North right-of-way line
15 of the North New River Canal and a corner of
16 the Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise;
17
18 THENCE Southeasterly on said North right-of-way
19 line of the North New River Canal and on the
20 South Corporate Limits of the City of Sunrise
21 to the intersection with a line 100.00 feet
22 West of and parallel with the East line of said
23 Section 5, Township 50 South, Range 40 East,
24 said point being the Northwest corner of a
25 parcel of land annexed into the City of Sunrise
26 as established and described in City of Sunrise
27 Ordinance Number 269, recorded in Official
28 Records Book 12802, Page 440 of the Public
29 Records of Broward County, Florida;

1 THENCE Southerly on said parallel line and on
2 the West Corporate Limits of the City of
3 Sunrise as established and described in said
4 Ordinance Number 269 to the intersection with
5 the South right-of-way line of State Road 93
6 (Interstate 75) and the North Corporate Limits
7 of the City of Weston as established and
8 described in State of Florida Legislature Bill
9 Number 3130;

11 THENCE Northwesterly on said South right-of-way
12 line of State Road 93 (Interstate 75) as shown
13 on Florida Department of Transportation
14 Right-of-Way Maps for State Road 93 (Interstate
15 75) Section 86075-2409, sheets 1 through 16 and
16 Section 86075-2420, sheet 8 and on said North
17 Corporate Limits of the City of Weston to the
18 Northeast corner of a parcel of land annexed
19 into the City of Weston as established and
20 described in State of Florida 1999 Legislature
21 House Bill 1565;

23 THENCE continue Northwesterly on the North
24 Corporate Limits of the City of Weston as
25 established and described in said House Bill
26 1565 to the intersection with the East
27 right-of-way line of Levee l-37 as shown on
28 South Florida Water Management District
29 Right-of-Way map for Levees L-33 and L-37,
30 Drawing Number L-33-1, sheet 1 of 1;

1 THENCE Northeasterly on said Easterly
2 right-of-way line of Levee 37 to the
3 intersection with the North line of said
4 Section 33, Township 49 South, Range 39 East;

6 THENCE Easterly on said North line of Section
7 33 to said Northwest corner of Section 34,
8 Township 49 South, Range 39 East and the POINT
9 OF BEGINNING.

11 Section 2. All public roads and the public
12 rights-of-way associated therewith, on the Broward County road
13 system, lying within the limits of the lands subject to
14 annexation herein, as described in section 1, are transferred
15 from Broward County jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the
16 annexing municipality, except for county collector roads and
17 all roads within the state highway system and any public
18 rights-of-way associated therewith lying within the annexation
19 area. All rights, title, interests, and responsibilities for
20 any transferred roads, including, but not limited to, the
21 ownership, operation, maintenance, planning, design, and
22 construction of said roads, and to the rights-of-way
23 associated therewith, shall transfer from Broward County
24 jurisdiction and ownership to the jurisdiction and ownership
25 of the annexing municipality upon the effective date of the
26 annexation.
27 Section 3. On the effective date of this act, the City
28 of Weston shall be responsible for and embodied with all
29 municipal powers granted in chapter 166, Florida Statutes,
30 over territory hereby annexed.

1 Section 4. Nothing in this act shall be construed to
2 affect or abrogate the rights of parties to any contracts,
3 whether the same be between Broward County and a third party
4 or between nongovernmental entities, which contracts are in
5 effect prior to the effective date of annexation.
6 Section 5. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
7 law.
