  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution honoring and supporting the

  3         members of the Florida National Guard and their

  4         families.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, the members of the Florida National Guard are

  7  continually vigilant and ready to respond when called for war

  8  or national emergency, or to protect the residents of Florida

  9  when disasters or emergencies occur within this state's

10  borders, and

11         WHEREAS, the Florida Army and Air National Guard

12  contribute significantly to the defense capability of the

13  United States and are vitally important to our national

14  security, and

15         WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard members readily

16  accept their role as defenders of our freedoms and rights and

17  continue to meet and exceed all military readiness standards,

18  and

19         WHEREAS, these citizen-soldiers continue to demonstrate

20  their professionalism, dedication, and skills, as well as

21  their patriotism and love of their country as they mobilize in

22  support of Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom,

23  Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the global war on terrorism, and

24         WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard has to date

25  activated almost 6,000 men and women to serve in the various

26  military operations following the attacks of September 11,

27  2001, and six members of the Florida National Guard have paid

28  the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, and

29         WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we pause to

30  recognize these Floridians for their professional excellence,

31  their dedicated patriotism, and their exemplary courage, and

 1         WHEREAS, we express our sincere gratitude to the

 2  families of these soldiers and airmen who endure many

 3  hardships as a result of their loved one's courageous service

 4  to the nation, and

 5         WHEREAS, we express also our great pride and enduring

 6  support for our men and women of the Florida National Guard as

 7  they respond to the call to duty, NOW, THEREFORE,

 8  

 9  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

10  

11         That this legislative body declares its most sincere

12  thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the men and women of the

13  Florida National Guard and to their families and loved ones

14  for their great gift of service and sacrifice, and pays

15  tribute to them on behalf of this state and the people of

16  Florida.
