  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the regulation of massage

  3         therapy; amending s. 480.034, F.S.; exempting

  4         certain medical facilities from the licensure

  5         and inspection requirements for massage

  6         establishments; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Subsection (5) is added to section 480.034,

11  Florida Statutes, to read:

12         480.034  Exemptions.--

13         (5)  Health care facilities that are licensed to

14  provide services by an allopathic physician, osteopathic

15  physician, registered nurse practitioner, acupuncturist,

16  chiropractor, podiatrist, dentist, or physical therapist

17  licensed in this state, which also employ licensed massage

18  therapists to provide massage services to patients of the

19  health care providers in the facility are exempt from the

20  massage establishment requirements in s. 480.043.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
