| 1 | A bill to be entitled | ||
| 2 | An act relating to nursing home employer health insurance; | ||
| 3 | authorizing nursing home employers to contract with the | ||
| 4 | Department of Management Services to purchase coverage in | ||
| 5 | the state group health insurance plan for certain persons; | ||
| 6 | providing participation requirements; requiring the | ||
| 7 | department to maintain certain records; providing an | ||
| 8 | effective date. | ||

| 10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: | ||
| 11 | |||
| 12 | Section 1. Nursing home employer health insurance; state | ||
| 13 | group health insurance plan.-- | ||
| 14 | (1) A nursing home employer which participates in the | ||
| 15 | Medicaid program may contract with the Department of Management | ||
| 16 | Services to purchase coverage in the state group health | ||
| 17 | insurance plan for the employer and the employer's eligible | ||
| 18 | employees and dependants of such employees. Each nursing home | ||
| 19 | employer who participates in the state group health insurance | ||
| 20 | plan shall collect the employee contribution, in the form of a | ||
| 21 | payroll deduction or other remuneration, from each qualified | ||
| 22 | employee as required by the department by rule. The employer | ||
| 23 | shall also make the required contributions that will be applied | ||
| 24 | toward the cost of the monthly premiums and shall pay an annual | ||
| 25 | administrative fee of not less than $5 per enrollee per month, | ||
| 26 | as determined by the department. The employee's proportionate | ||
| 27 | contribution to the monthly premium shall not be in excess of | ||
| 28 | that charged to state employees enrolled in the state group | ||
| 29 | health insurance plan. | ||
| 30 | (2) The Department of Management Services shall maintain a | ||
| 31 | separate accounting for all records of nursing home employers | ||
| 32 | who elect coverage under this section, including all statistical | ||
| 33 | information necessary for making actuarial assumptions for the | ||
| 34 | group. | ||
| 35 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2004. | ||
