  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to homeowner's insurance;

  3         creating s. 627.70115, F.S.; requiring an

  4         insurer to give notice before canceling a

  5         homeowner's insurance policy; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Section 627.70115, Florida Statutes, is

11  created to read:

12         627.70115  Homeowner's insurance; notification of

13  cancellation.--With respect to any homeowner's insurance

14  policy issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2004, such policy

15  may not be canceled unless the insurer gives the insured at

16  least 6 months' notice of its intent to do so.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
