15 | an enterprise zone in the City of Brooksville/Hernando |
16 | County; limiting the size of the boundary amendment; |
17 | requiring an application for the amendment by December 31, |
18 | 2004; authorizing the governing body of certain counties |
19 | to apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic |
20 | Development to amend the boundaries of a certain area |
21 | within a certain enterprise zone; requiring the office to |
22 | approve the application under certain circumstances; |
23 | providing requirements; providing an effective date. |

25 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

27 | Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a |
28 | governing body located wholly within the boundaries of a |
29 | consolidated government may apply to the Office of Tourism, |
30 | Trade, and Economic Development to amend the boundary of its |
31 | existing enterprise zone. The area proposed for addition to the |
32 | enterprise zone must include the three noncontiguous areas |
33 | designated as a federal empowerment zone under the 2000 |
34 | Community Renewal Tax Relief Act without any limitations as to |
35 | size. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may |
36 | approve an amendment to the enterprise zone boundary lines |
37 | provided the application is submitted before December 31, 2004, |
38 | and meets the requirements of this section. |
39 | Section 2. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, |
40 | the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may amend |
41 | the boundaries of an area designated as the City of |
42 | Brooksville/Hernando County Enterprise Zone # 2701. The boundary |
43 | amendment must not increase the overall size of the enterprise |
44 | zone by more than 5 square miles. The increased area shall be |
45 | contiguous to the existing enterprise zone. The boundary |
46 | amendment must also be consistent with the limitations imposed |
47 | by s. 290.0055, Florida Statutes. The application package for |
48 | the boundary amendment must be submitted by December 31, 2004. |
49 | Section 3. Notwithstanding any other provision of chapter |
50 | 290, Florida Statutes, the governing body of any inland county, |
51 | with a state-designated enterprise zone and a population greater |
52 | than 500,000, may apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and |
53 | Economic Development to amend the boundaries of such an |
54 | enterprise zone. The increased areas shall be contiguous to the |
55 | existing enterprise zone. The office shall approve the |
56 | application as long as the amended area does not exceed 5 square |
57 | miles and is consistent with the categories, criteria, and |
58 | limitations imposed by s. 290.0055, Florida Statutes, upon the |
59 | establishment of such enterprise zone. The enterprise zone |
60 | boundary amendment application must be received before December |
61 | 31, 2004. |
62 | Section 4. This act shall take effect July 1, 2004. |
