  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to school districts' policies

  3         of zero tolerance for crime and victimization;

  4         amending s. 1006.13, F.S.; requiring school

  5         districts to prohibit high school seniors who

  6         have committed a felony during their senior

  7         year from attending graduation ceremonies or

  8         activities; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11  

12         Section 1.  Subsection (6) is added to section 1006.13,

13  Florida Statutes, to read:

14         1006.13  Policy of zero tolerance for crime and

15  victimization.--

16         (6)  Each district school board shall adopt rules to

17  prohibit a senior in high school from participating in

18  graduation ceremonies or activities if, during the student's

19  senior year, he or she is adjudicated guilty of or delinquent

20  for, or is found to have committed, regardless of whether

21  adjudication is withheld, or pleads guilty or nolo contendere

22  to, a felony violation.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.

27    Requires each district school board to adopt a policy
