  2         An act relating to traffic control; amending s.

  3         316.1945, F.S.; prohibiting stopping a vehicle

  4         in a school zone to load or unload passengers

  5         when the school zone speed limit is in force;

  6         providing exceptions; providing an effective

  7         date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (1) of

12  section 316.1945, Florida Statutes, to read:

13         316.1945  Stopping, standing, or parking prohibited in

14  specified places.--

15         (1)  Except when necessary to avoid conflict with other

16  traffic, or in compliance with law or the directions of a

17  police officer or official traffic control device, no person

18  shall:

19         (d)  Stop a vehicle within a school zone, as described

20  in s. 316.1895, of any public or private elementary school to

21  load or unload passengers during such times as the school zone

22  speed limit is in force, except in a designated loading and

23  unloading area. This paragraph may not be construed to

24  prohibit parking in a school zone.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2004.
