11  The Committee on Criminal Justice recommended the following
12  amendment:

14         Senate Amendment 
15         On page 2, lines 26-29, delete those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         Section 4.  Section 812.0145, Florida Statutes, is
19  amended to read:
20         812.0145  Theft from persons 65 years of age or older;
21  penalties reclassification of offenses.--
22         (1)  A person who is convicted of theft of more than
23  $1,000 from a person 65 years of age or older shall be ordered
24  by the sentencing judge to make restitution to the victim of
25  such offense and to perform up to 500 hours of community
26  service work. Restitution and community service work shall be
27  in addition to any fine or sentence which may be imposed and
28  shall not be in lieu thereof.
