Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 395.403, Florida |
13
Statutes, is amended, subsection (8) is renumbered as subsection |

(9), and a new subsection (8) is added to said section, to read: |
15
395.403 Reimbursement of state-sponsored trauma centers.-- |
16
(1) The Legislature finds that many hospitals, physicians, |
17
and health care professionals that whichprovide services to |
18
trauma victims are not adequately compensated for such |
19
treatment. The Legislature also recognizes that the current |

verified trauma centers are providing such services without |

adequate reimbursement. Therefore, it is the intent of the |
22
Legislature to provide financial support to the current verified |
23
trauma centers and to establish a system of state-sponsored |
24
trauma centers as soon as feasibly possible. It is also the |
25
intent of the Legislature that this system of state-sponsored |
26
trauma centers be assisted financially based on the volume and |
27
acuity of uncompensated trauma care provided. |
28
(8) A state-sponsored trauma center shall include the cost |
29
of medically necessary services rendered by physicians and other |
30
health care professionals to eligible patients at such center in |
31
each claim submitted and pay such physicians and health care |
32
professionals any amount paid by the state for such services |
33
under the claim. |
34
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
