| 5 | sexual offenders maintained by the Department of Law |

| 8 | or other place where children regularly congregate; |
| 9 | authorizing use of the department's toll-free telephone |
| 10 | number or Internet site to conduct the search; providing |
| 11 | an effective date. |

| 13 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 14 |

| 15 | Section 1. Search of registration information regarding |
| 16 | sexual predators and sexual offenders required prior to |
| 17 | appointment or employment.--A state agency or governmental |
| 18 | subdivision, prior to making any decision to appoint or employ a |
| 19 | person to work, whether for compensation or as a volunteer, at |
| 20 | any park, playground, day care center, or other place where |
| 21 | children regularly congregate, must conduct a search of that |
| 22 | person's name or other identifying information against the |
| 23 | registration information regarding sexual predators and sexual |
| 24 | offenders maintained by the Department of Law Enforcement under |
| 25 | section 943.043, Florida Statutes. The agency or governmental |
| 26 | subdivision may conduct the search using the toll-free telephone |
| 27 | number or the Internet site maintained by the Department of Law |
| 28 | Enforcement. |
| 29 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
