A resolution recognizing the 100th anniversary of Rotary |

International, a global network of community volunteers. |

|
|

|
WHEREAS, Rotary International is an organization of |
6
|
business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide |
7
|
humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards in all |
8
|
vocations, and |
9
|
WHEREAS, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians are members of |
10
|
more than 30,000 clubs in 166 countries throughout the world, |
11
|
and |
12
|
WHEREAS, Rotary’s primary motto, “Service Above Self,” |
13
|
adopted in 1911, reflects the dedication and selflessness of its |
14
|
members, and |
15
|
WHEREAS, all Rotarians worldwide are united in a campaign |
16
|
to eradicate polio by 2005 and have provided volunteers to |
17
|
assist in immunizing children in polio-endemic countries, and |
18
|
WHEREAS, Rotary Clubs develop service projects that deal |
19
|
with children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, |
20
|
illiteracy, and violence and support youth programs, educational |
21
|
opportunities, and international exchanges for students, |
22
|
teachers, and professionals, and |
23
|
WHEREAS, the Dunedin Rotary Club, the Dunedin North Rotary |
24
|
Club, and other community partners are building the Rotary |
25
|
Centennial Visitor Center, an interactive nature center at |
26
|
Honeymoon Island, a state park located in Pinellas County, and |
27
|
WHEREAS, on February 23, 2005, Rotary International will |
28
|
celebrate its 100th anniversary of service, helping to build |
29
|
goodwill and peace in the world, NOW, THEREFORE, |

|
|

Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
32
|
Florida: |

That Rotary International is recognized on its 100th |
35
|
anniversary for community service projects around the world that |
36
|
address critical issues of today’s society. |

|
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
38
|
presented to Rotary International as a tangible token of the |
39
|
sentiments expressed herein. |
