| 2 | A resolution designating Saturday, May 8, 2004, as | ||
| 3 | "Spouse's Day" in Florida. | ||

| 5 | WHEREAS, in the year 2002, the Maness family experienced a | ||
| 6 | devastating, life-altering event, and | ||
| 7 | WHEREAS, in that year, Laura Maness, loving wife and | ||
| 8 | devoted mother of five, lost her life in a tragic automobile | ||
| 9 | accident, and | ||
| 10 | WHEREAS, it had been the practice of Laura's husband every | ||
| 11 | year since 1987 to set aside the Saturday before Mother's Day as | ||
| 12 | a time in which to honor her in grateful recognition of her | ||
| 13 | devotion to him as a wife, and | ||
| 14 | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the beauty of the Maness | ||
| 15 | marriage be recognized as a superlative example of the success | ||
| 16 | of the sacred institution of matrimony and of the devotion | ||
| 17 | necessary to sustain such a union, NOW, THEREFORE, | ||

| 19 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of | ||
| 20 | Florida: | ||

| 22 | That Saturday, May 8, 2004, is designated as "Spouse's Day" | ||
| 23 | in Florida. | ||
| 24 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be | ||
| 25 | presented to the family of Laura Maness as a tangible token of | ||
| 26 | the sentiments expressed herein. | ||
