2A resolution designating February 6, 2004, "Ronald Reagan
3Day" in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, elected in 1980 as
6the 40th President of the United States of America, served his
7nation and indeed the entire world with uncommon integrity,
8honor, and distinction, and
9     WHEREAS, following his first term in office, President
10Reagan was reelected by three-fifths of the electorate, winning
11in 49 of the 50 states, a record unsurpassed in the history of
12American presidential elections, and
13     WHEREAS, rising from a humble background, President Reagan
14was dedicated to an active social policy that resulted in
15lowered crime and drug use in the nation's neighborhoods, and
16his inauguration of a bold, bipartisan effort to restore
17accountability and common sense to government led to
18unprecedented economic expansion and opportunity for millions of
19Americans, and
20     WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to the country's
21armed forces contributed to the restoration of a sense of
22patriotism and pride in America and her values and those
23cherished by the free world and prepared the nation to meet 21st
24century challenges; and his vision of "peace through strength"
25led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate demise of the
26Soviet Union, resulting in the reinstatement of basic human
27rights for millions of people, and
28     WHEREAS, born February 6, 1911, President Ronald Reagan,
29unarguably one of the great figures of the 20th century, has now
30attained his 93rd birthday, NOW, THEREFORE,

32Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
33Florida:

35     That the superlative character, commitment, and service of
36Ronald Wilson Reagan, 40th President of the United States of
37America, are acknowledged with genuine honor and gratitude, and
38February 6, 2004, is designated "Ronald Reagan Day" in Florida.
