House Resolution
3A resolution congratulating the Oviedo High School State
4Championship Wrestling Team.
5
6     WHEREAS, with the largest margin of victory in state
7history, the Oviedo High School boys wrestling team won the
8school's first wrestling championship on February 28, 2004, in
9one of the most dominating team performances in Class 3A
10history, and
11     WHEREAS, scoring 163.5 points, the Lions broke a Class 3A
12record for winning the most points in a state tournament; tied a
133A record with three individual titles; and out of a team of 11
14state qualifiers had four placers, with two more only one match
15shy of placing in the top six, and
16     WHEREAS, Oviedo's three state champions are 125-pounder
17Seve Hewitt, who dedicated his title to a teammate who lost his
18life in an automobile accident two years ago; 135-pounder Jason
19Robbins, who marked his third consecutive undefeated season; and
20145-pounder Justin Fraga, who, on his 17th birthday, kept a
21year-old promise to his father of a championship win, and
22     WHEREAS, perhaps Head Coach Tom Coffman best captured
23Oviedo's sentiments regarding its championship team when, in
24crediting the Lions for their determination and hard work, he
25expressed his unabashed pride in their record-breaking
26performances and accomplishments as "something we can look back
27on and talk about down the road, but the state championship will
28always be first," NOW, THEREFORE,
29
30Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
31Florida:
32
33     That the House of Representatives commends the Oviedo High
34School Lions for their record-breaking season and extends to
35them its heartiest congratulations as the 2003-2004 Class 3A
36High School Wrestling Championship Team.
37     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
38presented to Head Coach Tom Coffman and to each member of the
39team as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
