House Resolution
3A resolution commending The Walt Disney Company for its
4contributions to the State of Florida.
5
6     WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has created a world-class
7resort in Florida known as The Walt Disney World Resort,
8comprised of four theme parks, two water parks, more than 20
9hotels, four vacation club properties, five championship golf
10courses, the Wide World of Sports complex, and Downtown Disney,
11and has had a vital part in the transformation of Port Canaveral
12into the second-largest cruise port in the world, and
13     WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company employs 51,000 Floridians,
14making its Orlando resort one of the largest single-site
15employers in the United States and, in spite of a slowdown in
16the tourism economy following the terrorist attacks of September
1711, 2001, continued to make capital investments in the resort,
18and
19     WHEREAS, in 2003, The Walt Disney Company made cash and in-
20kind contributions worth over $21 million in support of
21community services in the Central Florida area and, on an annual
22basis, pays more than $400 million in state and local taxes in
23Florida, and
24     WHEREAS, The Walt Disney Company has been an unparalleled
25friend and corporate partner to the State of Florida, NOW,
26THEREFORE,

28Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
29Florida:

31     That the House of Representatives commends The Walt Disney
32Company for its continued commitment to the State of Florida and
33expresses its sincere appreciation for the support and
34leadership it has provided.
35     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the House of
36Representatives, speaking on behalf of the state's citizens,
37look forward to a continuing and prosperous relationship with
38The Walt Disney Company.
39     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
40presented to The Walt Disney Company as a tangible token of the
41sentiments expressed herein.
