House Resolution
3A resolution honoring Mayor William Earl Willis.

5     WHEREAS, Mayor William Earl Willis, one of the longest-
6serving mayors in the history of Florida, has chosen to retire
7in January 2005 from a position he has held for more than half a
8century, and
9     WHEREAS, since August 1953, Mayor Willis has been diligent
10in his duties as councilman and mayor of the Town of Greensboro
11and has very ably conducted the affairs of the town with
12integrity and dedication, and
13     WHEREAS, in addition to the quality and longevity of his
14service to the citizens of Greensboro, it is to be noted that
15for these many years Mayor Willis has met the demands of his
16office wisely, faithfully, and without compensation, NOW,
17THEREFORE,

19Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
20Florida:

22     That the House of Representatives honors Mayor William Earl
23Willis for his many years of public service and for his
24outstanding contributions to the citizens of the Town of
25Greensboro, recognizes his more than 50 years of unselfish
26devotion to his constituents, and wishes him many years of
27healthy, happy retirement.
28     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
29presented to William Earl Willis, Mayor of the Town of
30Greensboro, Florida, as a tangible token of the sentiments
31expressed herein.
