1	House Resolution
2	A resolution designating April 21, 2004, as "Epilepsy
3	Awareness Day" in Florida.

5	WHEREAS, epilepsy is the nation's leading neurological
6	disorder, and
7	WHEREAS, epilepsy can affect anyone, at any time, and at
8	any age, and
9	WHEREAS, it is estimated that over 300,000 Floridians are
10	affected by epilepsy, with nearly 18,000 new cases being
11	diagnosed every year, and
12	WHEREAS, there are only 11 not-for-profit providers in
13	Florida organized to serve the residents of all 67 counties who
14	suffer from epilepsy, NOW, THEREFORE,

16	Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
17	Florida:

19	That the House of Representatives acknowledges the
20	important role of not-for-profit providers in caring for
21	Florida's growing epileptic population and the responsibility of
22	the state concerning the care and treatment of this group.
23	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives
24	wholeheartedly designates April 21, 2004, as "Epilepsy Awareness
25	Day" in Florida.
