5 | WHEREAS, NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt, born April |
6 | 29, 1951, in Kannapolis, North Carolina, won many stock car |
7 | races at all levels in Florida as well as in numerous other |
8 | states, and |
9 | WHEREAS, known as "The Intimidator," Dale Earnhardt brought |
10 | excitement and joy to his many fans in Florida and throughout |
11 | the entire world by his phenomenal accomplishments, including |
12 | his winning seven Winston Cup championships, a NASCAR record, |
13 | and |
14 | WHEREAS, Dale Earnhardt amassed 76 Winston Cup victories |
15 | during his more than 30-year racing career and established a |
16 | track record of 34 wins at the Daytona International Speedway, |
17 | and |
18 | WHEREAS, never one to turn back from a challenge, Dale |
19 | Earnhardt, in his twentieth attempt, won the fortieth annual |
20 | Daytona 500, and |
21 | WHEREAS, as President of Dale Earnhardt, Inc., in 1999, the |
22 | legendary racer claimed the NASCAR Busch Series Owner's |
23 | championship at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, and |
24 | on five occasions he was named Driver of the Year by the |
25 | National Motorsports Press Association, and |
26 | WHEREAS, an outstanding sportsman and citizen whose |
27 | indomitable character and determination inspired young people |
28 | the world over, Dale Earnhardt, on February 18, 2001, was |
29 | tragically taken from his family, his friends, and his fans on |
30 | the final lap of the Daytona 500, and |
31 | WHEREAS, it is appropriate to pay tribute to the life of |
32 | this extraordinary individual who meant so much to the people of |
33 | this state, NOW, THEREFORE, |

35 | Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of |
36 | Florida: |

38 | That the House of Representatives warmly welcomes Teresa |
39 | Earnhardt, wife of Dale, and the delegates of the Dale |
40 | Earnhardt, Inc., racing team. |
41 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives is |
42 | pleased to designate April 29, 2004, as "Dale Earnhardt Day" in |
43 | Florida. |
44 | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be |
45 | presented to Teresa Earnhardt as a tangible token of the |
46 | sentiments expressed herein. |
