A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Task Force to Fix Our Economy;
3creating the Task Force to Fix Our Economy; providing for
4membership; providing purposes and duties of the task
5force; requiring a report; providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  (1)  The Task Force to Fix Our Economy is
10established. The task force shall consist of economists who have
11been invited to participate, one from each major public
12university that has an economics program or department, and one
13from each private university meeting the same qualifications
14with fall or spring semester enrollments of at least 10,000
15students for the entire university, selected by the respective
16university, and three certified public accountants appointed by
17the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
18     (2)  The task force shall examine tax and budget systems of
19this state and political subdivisions of this state for purposes
20of determining the fairest mechanisms for providing the people
21of this state with a fair and equitable tax system to raise
22sufficient revenues in this state for state and local government
23purposes and making recommendations on revisions to existing
24state and local tax and budget systems to establish those
25mechanisms.
26     (3)  The task force shall select a chair and shall meet at
27the call of the chair but at least each month. Members of the
28task force shall serve without compensation but shall be
29entitled to reimbursement for travel and per diem expenses as
30provided in s. 112.061, Florida Statutes.
31     (4)  The task force shall submit a report to the Governor,
32the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of
33Representatives no later than 1 year after the effective date of
34this act containing the results of its investigations and
35recommended revisions to state and local tax and budget systems.
36     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
