11  Senator Klein moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 22, line 24, through page 23, line 18, delete
15  those lines
16  
17  and insert:  
18         1002.65  Professional credentials of prekindergarten
19  instructors; schedule for enhancing
20  qualifications.--Notwithstanding ss. 1002.55(3)(c) and (3)(e)
21  and 1002.63(5) and (7), the minimum qualifications for
22  prekindergarten instructors of each private prekindergarten
23  provider or public school delivering a prekindergarten program
24  under this part, other than the summer prekindergarten program
25  under s. 1002.61, shall be enhanced in accordance with the
26  following schedule:
27         (1)  Effective at the beginning of the 2010-2011 school
28  year:
29         (a)  Each prekindergarten class must have at least one
30  prekindergarten instructor who holds an associate's or higher
31  degree in the field of early childhood education or child

 1  development; and
 2         (b)  For each prekindergarten class composed of 11 or
 3  more students, in addition to a prekindergarten instructor who
 4  meets the requirements of paragraph (a), the class must have
 5  at least one prekindergarten instructor who meets the
 6  requirements of s. 1002.55(3)(c).
 7         (2)  Effective at the the beginning of the 2013-2014
 8  school year, each prekindergarten class must have at least one
 9  prekindergarten instructor who holds a bachelor's or higher
10  degree in the field of early childhood education or child
11  development.
