A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Florida KidCare program; amending
3s. 409.814, F.S.; revising provisions relating to
4documentation required for determination of eligibility;
5providing an effective date.

7Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9     Section 1.  Paragraph (a) of subsection (8) of section
10409.814, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
11     409.814  Eligibility.--A child who has not reached 19 years
12of age whose family income is equal to or below 200 percent of
13the federal poverty level is eligible for the Florida KidCare
14program as provided in this section. For enrollment in the
15Children's Medical Services Network, a complete application
16includes the medical or behavioral health screening. If,
17subsequently, an individual is determined to be ineligible for
18coverage, he or she must immediately be disenrolled from the
19respective Florida KidCare program component.
20     (8)  In determining the eligibility of a child, an assets
21test is not required. Each applicant shall provide written
22documentation during the application process and the
23redetermination process, including, but not limited to, the
24following:
25     (a)  Proof of family income, which must include a copy of
26the applicant's most recent supported by copies of any federal
27income tax return. In the absence of a federal income tax
28return, an applicant may submit for the prior year, any wages
29and earnings statements (pay stubs), (W-2 forms), or and any
30other appropriate documents document.
31     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
