| 7 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
| 8 |
|
| 9 | Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (8) of section |
| 10 | 409.814, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: |
| 11 | 409.814 Eligibility.--A child who has not reached 19 years |
| 12 | of age whose family income is equal to or below 200 percent of |
| 13 | the federal poverty level is eligible for the Florida KidCare |
| 14 | program as provided in this section. For enrollment in the |
| 15 | Children's Medical Services Network, a complete application |
| 16 | includes the medical or behavioral health screening. If, |
| 17 | subsequently, an individual is determined to be ineligible for |
| 18 | coverage, he or she must immediately be disenrolled from the |
| 19 | respective Florida KidCare program component. |
| 20 | (8) In determining the eligibility of a child, an assets |
| 21 | test is not required. Each applicant shall provide written |
| 22 | documentation during the application process and the |
| 23 | redetermination process, including, but not limited to, the |
| 24 | following: |
| 25 | (a) Proof of family income, which must include a copy of |
| 26 | the applicant's most recent supported by copies of any federal |
| 27 | income tax return. In the absence of a federal income tax |
| 28 | return, an applicant may submit for the prior year, any wages |
| 29 | and earnings statements (pay stubs), (W-2 forms), or and any |
| 30 | other appropriate documents document. |
| 31 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
