A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to child safety; requiring a person to
3present picture identification before retrieving a child
4from a public school; providing a definition; requiring a
5person to present picture identification before retrieving
6a child from a nonpublic school or certain child care
7facilities; providing a definition; providing an effective
8date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12     Section 1.  In addition to any other requirements imposed
13by school districts, a person must present picture
14identification to the school principal or his or her designee
15before retrieving a student from any public school in this
16state. As used in this section, the term "picture
17identification" means a valid state driver's license, a valid
18state identification card, or a valid United States military
19identification card.
20     Section 2.  In addition to any other requirements imposed
21by a nonpublic school exempt from licensure under s. 402.3025,
22Florida Statutes, a child care facility licensed under s.
23402.305, Florida Statutes, a family day care home licensed under
24s. 402.313, Florida Statutes, a large family child care home
25licensed under s. 402.3131, Florida Statutes, or a faith-based
26child care provider exempt from licensure under s. 402.316,
27Florida Statutes, a person must present picture identification
28to the appropriate school or child care official or his or her
29designee before retrieving a child from any of these facilities.
30As used in this section, the term "picture identification" means
31a valid state driver's license, a valid state identification
32card, or a valid United States military identification card.
33     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
