15 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

17 | Section 1. The Department of Environmental Protection |
18 | shall design a pilot project, for implementation in 2006, to |
19 | encourage the reuse or recycling of campaign signs. At a |
20 | minimum, the department shall identify two large counties and |
21 | two small counties, based on population, to establish central |
22 | depositories for used campaign signs and to make such signs |
23 | available, at no cost to the receiving entity, to schools and |
24 | other entities that may have a use for them and to companies |
25 | that can recycle the materials from which the signs are made |
26 | into new materials or products. As part of this pilot project, |
27 | the department shall submit details of the program along with a |
28 | budget request for use of funds from the Solid Waste Management |
29 | Trust Fund to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the |
30 | Speaker of the House of Representatives, prior to the start of |
31 | the 2006 Regular Session of the Legislature. |
32 | Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005. |
