2 A resolution recognizing February 6, 2005, as
3 "Ronald Reagan Day" in Florida.

5 WHEREAS, President Ronald Wilson Reagan, a man of
6 humble background, worked throughout his life serving freedom
7 and advancing the public good, having been employed as an
8 entertainer, union leader, and corporate spokesman, and was
9 elected Governor of California and President of the United
10 States, and
11 WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan served with honor and
12 distinction for two terms as the 40th President of the United
13 States of America and was elected to his second term by 3/5 of
14 the electorate and by 49 of the 50 states, a record
15 unsurpassed in the history of American presidential elections,
16 and
17 WHEREAS, in 1981, when Ronald Reagan was inaugurated
18 President, he inherited a disillusioned nation that was
19 shackled by rampant inflation and high unemployment, and
20 WHEREAS, during Mr. Reagan's presidency he worked in a
21 bipartisan manner to enact his bold agenda of restoring
22 accountability and common sense to the Federal Government,
23 which led to an unprecedented economic expansion and
24 opportunity for millions of Americans, and
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Reagan's commitment to an active social
26 policy agenda for the nation's children helped to lower crime
27 and reduce drug use in our neighborhoods, and
28 WHEREAS, President Reagan's commitment to our armed
29 forces contributed to the restoration of pride in America, her
30 values, and those cherished by the free world, and prepared

1 America's Armed Forces to meet the challenges of the 21st
2 Century, and
3 WHEREAS, President Reagan's vision of "peace through
4 strength" led to the end of the Cold War and the ultimate
5 demise of the Soviet Union, guaranteeing basic human rights
6 for millions of people, and
7 WHEREAS, February 6, 2005, will be the 94th anniversary
8 of Ronald Reagan's birth, and the first anniversary since his
9 passing, NOW, THEREFORE,

11 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
12
13 That the Senate pauses in its deliberations to honor
14 the memory and accomplishments of President Ronald Wilson
15 Reagan and to recognize February 6, 2005, as "Ronald Reagan
16 Day" in the State of Florida.
