11 The Committee on Community Affairs (Clary) recommended the
12 following amendment:

15 On page 6, lines 1-22, delete those lines
16
17 and insert: ticket sales, food services, utilities services,
18 space rentals, equipment rentals, security services,
19 decorating services, business services, advertising services,
20 communications services, exhibit supply sales and rentals,
21 locksmith services, and sales of gifts and sundries. The total
22 distribution to each unit of local government shall not exceed
23 $1 million per state fiscal year. However, total distributions
24 to all units of local government shall not exceed $5 million
25 per state fiscal year, and such distribution shall be limited
26 exclusively to the taxes collected and remitted under the
27 provisions of this chapter. If collections and remittances of
28 eligible convention centers exceed the $5 million maximum
29 amount authorized for distribution, the department shall
30 distribute proceeds to each eligible unit of local government
31 using an apportionment factor, the numerator of which is the

1 amount remitted by an eligible convention center and the
2 denominator is the total amount remitted by all eligible
3 convention centers. The apportionment factor for each eligible
4 convention center shall be applied to the $5 million maximum
5 amount authorized for distribution to determine the amount
6 that shall be distributed to each local government unit. The
7 department shall prescribe forms required to be filed with the
8 department by eligible convention centers. Distributions shall
9 begin 60 days following notification of certification by the
10 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development pursuant to
11 s. 288.1171. Distributions shall be used solely to encourage
12 and provide economic development for the attraction,
13 recruitment, and retention of corporate headquarters and of
14 high-technology, manufacturing, research and development,
15 entertainment, and tourism industries as designated by the
16 unit of local government by resolution of its governing body,
17 and to assist the eligible convention centers to attract more
18 business and expand their offerings, including developing
19 their own events and shows. This sub-subparagraph is repealed
20 effective June 30, 2008.
