  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public records; amending s.

  3         39.202, F.S., relating to confidentiality

  4         requirements for reports and records in cases

  5         of child abuse or neglect; providing that staff

  6         members of a child advocacy center who are

  7         providing the services of the center to the

  8         child may have access to the records; providing

  9         an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Paragraph (q) is added to section 39.202,

14  Florida Statutes, to read:

15         39.202  Confidentiality of reports and records in cases

16  of child abuse or neglect.--

17         (2)  Except as provided in subsection (4), access to

18  such records, excluding the name of the reporter which shall

19  be released only as provided in subsection (5), shall be

20  granted only to the following persons, officials, and

21  agencies:

22         (q)  Staff of a child advocacy center that has met the

23  standards set forth in s. 39.3035 who are actively involved in

24  providing the services of the center to the child.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.

28                          SENATE SUMMARY

29    Amends confidentiality provisions that pertain to reports
      and records in cases of child abuse or neglect to provide
30    that staff members of a child advocacy center that meets
      the standards set forth in s. 39.3035, F.S., who are
31    actively involved in providing the services of the center
      to the child may have access to the records.
