  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution commending the Armwood High School

  3         "Hawks" on winning its 2nd consecutive Class 4A

  4         State Football Championship.

  5  

  6         WHEREAS, last year the Armwood High "Hawks" broke a

  7  34-year drought in Hillsborough County by winning the Class 4A

  8  State Football Championship, and

  9         WHEREAS, this year Armwood won the championship again

10  with a 49-21 victory over Lake Gibson, accomplishing what no

11  other county team has ever done in winning consecutive state

12  championships, and

13         WHEREAS, Hillsborough County schools have had a long

14  history of struggles in the arena of high school football, and

15  it used to be said that the Hillsborough public high school

16  could never win the state title, and

17         WHEREAS, this "Hawks" team had scored 29 victories in a

18  row on the field as they captured their second state title,

19  based on the all-out efforts of their dynamic, talented, and

20  well-coordinated team members; the outstanding leadership of

21  their Head Coach, Sean Callahan; and the skilled guidance and

22  support of Armwood's coaching staff -- Offensive Coordinator

23  Chris Taylor, Defensive Coordinator Matt Thompson, Running

24  Back Coach Bobby Holder, Wide Receiver Coach Todd Gicker,

25  Offensive Line Coach Miles Bilinski, Defensive Line Coach

26  Ernest Hayes, Outside Linebackers Coach Cory Peterson,

27  Defensive Back Coach C.C. Culpepper, Quarterback Coach T.J.

28  Laflamby, -- and Team Chaplain Ron Ellis, and

29         WHEREAS, the Armwood's "Hawks" have demonstrated the

30  kind of teamwork and dedication that set an example for all

31  Florida youth and have brought the students and parents of

 2  attitude, NOW, THEREFORE,

 4  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 6         That the Senate congratulates and commends the Armwood

 7  "Hawks" on a magnificent sustained performance over these last

 8  2 years and wishes them continued success in their future

 9  endeavors.
