  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to homestead assessments;

  3         providing an exception to requirements to

  4         assess certain homestead property at just value

  5         under certain circumstances; providing

  6         limitations; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section

11  193.155(4), Florida Statutes, changes, additions, or

12  improvements to homestead property damaged in one or more of

13  the named storms of 2004 shall not be considered as changes,

14  additions, or improvements to homestead property subject to

15  assessment at just value as provided in section 193.155(4)(a),

16  Florida Statutes, unless the square footage of such homestead

17  property is increased by 10 percent or more or repairs to such

18  property are incomplete 24 months after the date of damage

19  from such storms.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
