12  recommended the following amendment to amendment (971230):

14         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
15         On page 6, between lines 19 and 20,
16  
17  insert:  
18         (8)  VERIFICATION.--The department and the Department
19  of Corrections shall implement a system for verifying the
20  addresses of sexual predators. The system must be consistent
21  with the provisions of the federal Jacob Wetterling Act, as
22  amended, and any other federal standards applicable to such
23  verification or required to be met as a condition for the
24  receipt of federal funds by the state. The Department of
25  Corrections shall verify the addresses of sexual predators who
26  are not incarcerated but who reside in the community under the
27  supervision of the Department of Corrections. County and local
28  law enforcement agencies, in conjunction with the department,
29  shall verify the addresses of sexual predators who are not
30  under the care, custody, control, or supervision of the
31  Department of Corrections. The Department of Law Enforcement

 1  shall develop a procedure that requires sexual predators to
 2  bi-annually report in person to the sheriff's office in the
 3  county where the sexual predator temporarily or permanently
 4  resides, and that also requires sexual predators who have no
 5  temporary or permanent residence to bi-annually report in
 6  person as provided by the department.  This system shall be
 7  implemented by December 1, 2005.

12         On page 1, line 5, after the first semicolon
13  
14  insert:
15         requiring the Department of Law Enforcement to
16         develop a procedure for sexual predators to
