8 | circumstances; providing requirements; providing an |

11 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

13 | Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a |
14 | governing body located wholly within the boundaries of a |
15 | consolidated government may apply to the Office of Tourism, |
16 | Trade, and Economic Development to amend the boundaries of its |
17 | existing enterprise zone for the purpose of adding additional |
18 | areas. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development |
19 | shall approve the boundary amendment application provided the |
20 | additional areas are contiguous to the existing enterprise zone |
21 | and do not exceed 5 square miles in the aggregate. The |
22 | enterprise zone with boundaries as amended pursuant the petition |
23 | and approved by the office shall be consistent with the |
24 | categories, criteria, and conditions imposed by s. 290.0055, |
25 | Florida Statutes, including the requirement that the enterprise |
26 | zone with boundaries as amended continues to suffer from |
27 | pervasive poverty, unemployment, and general distress. Any |
28 | application for an enterprise zone boundary amendment must be |
29 | received by the office by December 31, 2005. |
30 | Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law. |
