A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to enterprise zones; authorizing a
3governing body within the boundaries of a consolidated
4government to apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and
5Economic Development to amend the boundaries of its
6enterprise zone; requiring the office to approve the
7boundary amendment application under certain
8circumstances; providing requirements; providing an
9effective date.

11Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13     Section 1.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a
14governing body located wholly within the boundaries of a
15consolidated government may apply to the Office of Tourism,
16Trade, and Economic Development to amend the boundaries of its
17existing enterprise zone for the purpose of adding additional
18areas. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development
19shall approve the boundary amendment application provided the
20additional areas are contiguous to the existing enterprise zone
21and do not exceed 5 square miles in the aggregate. The
22enterprise zone with boundaries as amended pursuant the petition
23and approved by the office shall be consistent with the
24categories, criteria, and conditions imposed by s. 290.0055,
25Florida Statutes, including the requirement that the enterprise
26zone with boundaries as amended continues to suffer from
27pervasive poverty, unemployment, and general distress. Any
28application for an enterprise zone boundary amendment must be
29received by the office by December 31, 2005.
30     Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
