  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to property appraiser

  3         assessments; amending s. 193.023, F.S.;

  4         providing property appraisers with additional

  5         methods for inspecting real property for

  6         assessment purposes in addition to physical

  7         inspections; reducing the required frequency of

  8         physical inspections; providing an effective

  9         date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 193.023, Florida

14  Statutes, is amended to read:

15         193.023  Duties of the property appraiser in making

16  assessments.--

17         (2)  In making his or her assessment of the value of

18  real property, the property appraiser is required to review,

19  as the property appraiser deems necessary, current satellite

20  imagery, aerial photographs, or similar imagery, if available,

21  and inspect physically inspect the property every 5 3 years to

22  ensure that the tax roll meets all the requirements of law.

23  However, the property appraiser shall physically inspect any

24  parcel of taxable real property upon the request of the

25  taxpayer or owner.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.

                       COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

 4  This committee substitute requires the property appraisers to
    physically inspect real property every 5 years, and allows
 5  them to use other technology, as they deem necessary.
