  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution celebrating and honoring the life

  3         of Former President Ronald Wilson Reagan.

  4  

  5         WHEREAS, Ronald Wilson Reagan rose from humble

  6  beginnings to become one of the most respected and beloved

  7  presidents of the United States of America, and

  8         WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan devoted his adult life to

  9  serving the cause of freedom in various walks of life - as an

10  actor, as a union leader, as a corporate spokesman, as

11  Governor of California, and as President of the United States,

12  and

13         WHEREAS, when President Reagan was inaugurated in 1981

14  he inherited a disillusioned nation beset by a stagnant

15  economy and high unemployment, and a world immersed in the

16  dangers and insecurities of the Cold War, and

17         WHEREAS, working skillfully in a bipartisan approach to

18  America's problems, President Reagan restored accountability

19  and common sense to government, leading to an unprecedented

20  economic expansion and increased opportunity for millions of

21  Americans, and

22         WHEREAS, on the international level, President Reagan's

23  "vision of peace through strength" extended freedom and

24  democracy around the globe and united a divided world by

25  ending the Cold War, and

26         WHEREAS, Ronald Reagan's two administrations were

27  dedicated also to promoting national pride and renewing a

28  sense of spirituality to government domestically and

29  internationally, and

30         WHEREAS, on the occasion of his memorial service in the

31  nation's Capitol on June 11, 2004, world leaders from around

 1  the globe expressed their admiration for Ronald Reagan's

 2  leadership and loss at his passing, NOW, THEREFORE,

 3  

 4  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 5  

 6         That the Senate pauses in its deliberations to remember

 7  and honor the accomplishments of Former President Ronald

 8  Wilson Reagan and to express its shared sorrow with the

 9  members of his family and its gratitude for the gift of this

10  great man's leadership and example, which fostered a renewed

11  sense of American patriotism and purpose.
