  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing July 26, 2005, as

  3         Aunts and Uncles Day in honor of the important

  4         role aunts and uncles play in the lives of

  5         their nieces and nephews.

  6  

  7         WHEREAS, aunts and uncles throughout the United States

  8  have the chance to influence the lives of their nieces and

  9  nephews in a way that few other adults can, and

10         WHEREAS, rich or poor, young or old, aunts and uncles

11  can make holidays, family gatherings, and ordinary days

12  special for their nieces and nephews by showering them with

13  unconditional love and affection, and

14         WHEREAS, many times when a niece or nephew is

15  especially close to an aunt or uncle, they become as dear to

16  one another as siblings, and deep friendships are forged

17  between the child and adult that last lifetimes, and

18         WHEREAS, when parents pass away or become otherwise

19  unable to care for their children, it is often the children's

20  aunts or uncles who become their main caregivers, providing

21  the children with a support system in their greatest time of

22  need, NOW, THEREFORE,

24  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

25  

26         That the Florida Senate recognizes and honors the

27  influence that aunts and uncles have on their nieces and

28  nephews, and recognizes July 26, 2005, as Aunts and Uncles Day

29  in the State of Florida.
