10 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |

12 | Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 5 of chapter 94-429, |
13 | Laws of Florida, as amended by chapter 99-475, Laws of Florida, |
14 | is amended to read: |
15 | Section 5. Powers and duties.--The county shall have full |
16 | power and authority: |
17 | (2) To create and promote commerce and industry within the |
18 | county; promote the activities of its seaport; make known the |
19 | advantages, facilities, resources, and attributes of its |
20 | seaport; and, in furtherance thereof, authorize expenditures for |
21 | the purposes of this subsection, including meals, hospitality, |
22 | and entertainment of persons in the interest of promoting and |
23 | engendering goodwill toward its port jurisdictional area, as |
24 | defined in subsection (3) of section 2 of chapter 94-429, Laws |
25 | of Florida, as amended by chapter 99-475, Laws of Florida, which |
26 | area shall be known as Port Everglades. |
27 | Section 2. Severability.--It is declared to be the |
28 | legislative intent that if any section, subsection, sentence, |
29 | clause, or provision or part thereof of this act is held |
30 | invalid, unenforceable, or unconstitutional, it shall not affect |
31 | the remainder of the act, and the remainder of the act shall |
32 | remain in full force and effect as if the invalid portions of |
33 | the act had not been enacted. |
34 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2005. |
