A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to Broward County; amending chapter 94-
3429, Laws of Florida, as amended; authorizing expenditures
4for the purposes enumerated therein, including meals,
5hospitality, and entertainment of persons in the interest
6of promoting and engendering goodwill toward its seaport,
7Port Everglades; providing severability; providing an
8effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 5 of chapter 94-429,
13Laws of Florida, as amended by chapter 99-475, Laws of Florida,
14is amended to read:
15     Section 5.  Powers and duties.--The county shall have full
16power and authority:
17     (2)  To create and promote commerce and industry within the
18county; promote the activities of its seaport; make known the
19advantages, facilities, resources, and attributes of its
20seaport; and, in furtherance thereof, authorize expenditures for
21the purposes of this subsection, including meals, hospitality,
22and entertainment of persons in the interest of promoting and
23engendering goodwill toward its port jurisdictional area, as
24defined in subsection (3) of section 2 of chapter 94-429, Laws
25of Florida, as amended by chapter 99-475, Laws of Florida, which
26area shall be known as Port Everglades.
27     Section 2.  Severability.--It is declared to be the
28legislative intent that if any section, subsection, sentence,
29clause, or provision or part thereof of this act is held
30invalid, unenforceable, or unconstitutional, it shall not affect
31the remainder of the act, and the remainder of the act shall
32remain in full force and effect as if the invalid portions of
33the act had not been enacted.
34     Section 3.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
