  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution recognizing the 2004-2005

  3         Jefferson High School Varsity Football Team as

  4         the Florida High School Football Class 3A State

  5         runner-up, and honoring the Dragons for their

  6         success throughout the year.

  7  

  8         WHEREAS, the 2004-2005 Jefferson High School Football

  9  Team won the district championship, regional championship, and

10  southern regional championship, and

11         WHEREAS, with a lot of heart, hard work, and dedication

12  the Jefferson Dragons 11-4 record in 2004-2005 earned them a

13  place in the Florida High School Football Class 3A State

14  Championship, and

15         WHEREAS, the Dragons' opening drive of the Championship

16  game was a dazzling 68-yard touchdown drive in five plays,

17  completed in under 2:12 minutes, illustrating the strength and

18  skill of the team, and

19         WHEREAS, Mike Simmonds, head coach for Jefferson, has

20  led the Dragons to six 10 plus winning seasons since he took

21  over the program in 1998, leading his team all the way to the

22  State Championship in 2002 and 2004, and

23         WHEREAS, the football program at Jefferson High School

24  provides support for the student athletes in the classroom and

25  on the field year-round, helping each student achieve

26  scholastic and athletic success, and

27         WHEREAS, the graduating seniors on the Jefferson

28  Dragons football team have earned the respect of their

29  coaches, teammates, and classmates with their love for the

30  game and passion to win, NOW, THEREFORE,

 1  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

 3         That the Senate honors the 2004-2005 Jefferson High

 4  School Football Team for their hard-earned winning record and

 5  for being the Florida High School Football Class 3A State

 6  Championship runner-up.
