  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to public safety; providing for

  3         an annual salary increase for certified law

  4         enforcement officers; providing an effective

  5         date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8  

  9         Section 1.  Each certified law enforcement officer who

10  has a performance rating of satisfactory or better, or the

11  equivalent, and who is represented by a collective bargaining

12  unit shall receive an annual salary increase equal to the

13  greater of one step (on the basis of the 1996 step pay plan)

14  or 2.1 percent, paid in accordance with the officer's

15  collective bargaining agreement.

16         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
