  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the use of Tasers;

  3         prohibiting the use of a Taser or similar

  4         device on an individual whom the user knows or

  5         should have known to be a minor; providing

  6         penalties; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9  

10         Section 1.  Use of certain stun guns on a minor.--

11         (1)  A person, including, but not limited to, a law

12  enforcement officer may not use a Taser stun gun or a similar

13  conductive-energy device on an individual whom the person

14  knows or should have known to be a minor.

15         (2)  A person who violates subsection (1) commits a

16  felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in section

17  775.082 or section 775.083, Florida Statutes.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

19  law.

22                          SENATE SUMMARY

23    Prohibits the use of a Taser stun gun or a similar device
      on an individual whom the user knows or should have known
24    to be a minor. Provides that a violation of this
      provision is a third-degree felony.
