  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating

  3         s. 290.00710, F.S.; authorizing the City of

  4         Lakeland to apply to the Office of Tourism,

  5         Trade, and Economic Development for designation

  6         of an enterprise zone; providing requirements;

  7         requiring the office to establish an effective

  8         date for the designated enterprise zone;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12  

13         Section 1.  Section 290.00710, Florida Statutes, is

14  created to read:

15         290.00710  Enterprise zone designation for the City of

16  Lakeland.--The City of Lakeland may apply to the Office of

17  Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for designation of

18  one enterprise zone for an area within the City of Lakeland,

19  which zone shall encompass an area up to 10 square miles. The

20  application must be submitted by December 31, 2005, and must

21  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055. Notwithstanding

22  s. 290.0065, limiting the total number of enterprise zones

23  designated and the number of enterprise zones within a

24  population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

25  Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone under

26  this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

27  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the

28  enterprise zone designated pursuant to this section.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2005.
